The Dark Knight Sings
Christian Bale’s performance as Jim in Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun (1987) remains his best. In this memorable scene, he mimes the Welsh lullaby ”Suo Gân” (sung by James Rainbird) while saluting departing kamikaze pilots from behind the barbed wire of an internment camp.
