In his latest blog post Mark S. King asks if Dawson’s 20 Load Weekend is “the most important gay porn film ever made?”
It’s an interesting read, despite occasional lapses into self-satisfaction (dismissing HIV-negative doubters as “jealous”) and an inclusion of the ludicrously disingenuous ravings of Eric Rofes (“barebacking is liberation … barebacking is defiance” - the baseline obediences required to facilitate the deillusioned freedoms of barebacking culture, that is managing chronic illness or chancing infection in the hope that pharmaceuticals taken as ordered will smooth the journey, are neither liberating nor defiant).
