About

Outrate began life in 2003 as a response to two ongoing horrors: the deplorable quality of gay-themed (and in many cases gay-made) cinema of that time, and the deplorable lack of critical responses to those films by writers in the gay media.

Since then Outrate has waxed and waned, disappearing altogether at some periods, when I was too drunk neglected to renew the server hosting, for example, and thriving at others.

Here it is back again, with the full archive available and new things added (almost) daily. My name is Mark Adnum, and all the content on the site is written by me, unless otherwise specified. Contributing writers over the years have included Mark Simpson and Gary Morris and their reviews are bylined.

About me: I’m Editor-in-Chief at Nightcharm and I write for the Huffington Post
